JHU Advanced Physics Lab: Hall effect
Instructions are available here .
Write-up by Dr. Steve Wonnell is here .
Be careful with the probe, do not exceed voltage and current,
do not keep current for a long time.
Perform your experiment with both silver and tungsten samples.
Describe the differences and perform quantitative analysis.
Prior notes on this experiment may be found
here .
In this experiment you will repeat the study by Edwin Hall,
a graduate student here at Hopkins in 1878, which allows one
to measure the effect of magnetic field on the charge carriers in solids.
